Aregbesola’s Declaration Of TOP Membership: Osun Council Chairmen Pass Vote Of Confidence In Oyetola
…say It’s Only Enemy Of Progress That Will Castigate His Govt
The Council Chairmen across the 69 Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas, Area Councils and Adminstrative Offices in Osun have passed vote of confidence in Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State.
The Council bosses said “it is only enemy of progress and good governance that would castigate the incumbent Governor who has been performing creditably well since assumption of office.”
Recall that the immediate past Governor of the State, Rauf Aregbesola publicly announced his membership of TOP last week Friday, a statement believed to have cleared the air as to whether he has been supporting the group or not.
The Chairmen who are members of the State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) made the Statement in a release issued by their Chairman who doubled as the Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun.
The release was a reaction to the public declaration of the former Governor of the State who is currently the Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as patron of the dissenting members of the ruling party— the All Progressives Congress (APC) called “The Osun Progressives, TOP”
The Council Chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty, solidarity, endorsement and unalloyed support for the Governor saying “we are comfortable with your people-oriented policies and programmes that have impacted positively on the lives of the people and transformed our dear State since the inception of your Adminstration”
They disclosed their readiness to mobile massively for the Governor towards the actualisation of his second term ambition adding that no stone would be left unturned to ensure his victory come July 16 governorship election.
According to them, it is incumbent on every right-thinking individual to appraise and applaud the good works of the present Administration rather than hurling venoms for cheap political gains and shameful grandstanding.
They noted that, the impressive performance of Governor Oyetola has endeared him more to the people at the grassroots as reflected in his wide acceptance by the people and massive endorsement by group of individuals and organisations across sectors.
The Council bosses renewed their loyalty and honesty to the Development Agenda, policies and programmes of the Governor saying “we are solidly behind you, your government and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the State under the Chairmanship of Prince Gboyega Famodun.”
They said the victory of the Governor in the next governorship election was a “done-deal” as all the members of ALGON in the State have resolved to put in their maximum efforts for its realisation.
The Chairmen urged Governor Oyetola to remain steady and not allow himself to be distracted by the political detractors and perceived enemies within who were bent to contrary ideals of the party’s manifestoes and moral standards.
The statement cautioned the dissenting members of the party to be wary of their actions and inactions that may cause unnecessary political melee and raise needless dust of altercations between and among members of the progressive family.
The statement reads in parts: “We are comfortable with all the adjustments made in the inherited policies by Governor Oyetola which have been in line with the wishes of the people as demanded during his “Thank-You-Visit” to all the nine federal constituencies of the State.
“Our candid advice is for those who are needlessly opposing the governor and the state APC Chairman to jettison the act and work collectively as a team for the re-election of Governor Oyetola in the overall interest of the people of the state.”
