Akande @ 83: Osun ALGON Chair Extols Elder Statesman, Says His Commitment To Nation Building Seconds To None
The Chairman, Osun State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun has felicitated the former Governor of the State, Chief Abdul-Kareem Adebisi Akande on the occasion of his 83rd birthday.
Abiodun extolled the octogenarian’s rare virtues, long-standing commitment, dedication and resilience to national growth and development which has been seen in the continued existence of Nigeria as a united and indivisible entity.
The ALGON Chairman, in a statement personally signed and made available to pressmen, described the former Interim National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a detribalised Nigerian whose hard-earned resources were dedicated to serve God and humanity.
He lauded the immense contributions of the elder statesman to the sustenance of the nation’s democracy and good governance.
“It is not a gain say that you have made an indelible impact difficult to surpass in the annals of socioeconomic, political and democratic renaissance of our dear State, Nigeria and indeed the world.
“You repository of knowledge spanning across all aspects of human life has has been greatly benefited by all and sundry particularly those that took wisdom from your resilient commitment democratic tenets, good governance, transparency, accountability, probity and love for humanity.
“As a child and student under your political tutelage, it is crystal clear that you are known for all that is good as this had in countless times earned you respect and honour here in our dear State, Nigeria, Africa and the entire world.
“Your good legacies and monumental achievements as the Secretary to the Government of the Old Oyo State, Deputy Governor and of course Executive Governor of Osun can never be forgotten as they still live and glitter for all to see.
“You are among the few that rescued our country and ensured the enthronement of progressive government that has not only come to stay but helped to rewrite the history of our country for good and betterment of all.
“You have shown us the path to success and greatness just as you equally equipped us with all that can make us to not only give back to our societies but to ensure that the democratic dividends are felt by the governed.
“On a joyous day like this, it is our hope that you live long in good health to witness more fruits of your labour as you continue to write your name in gold indelibly in the sound of time.
“On behalf of myself, my family and the chairmen across our councils in the State, I congratulate you for witnessing another year on earth and I pray God to continue to strengthen you, and imbue you with more wisdom and knowledge to continue to guide and guard us all our dear ‘Baba Omo Kekeke.’
