Tension As Suspected Hoodlums Invade UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital To Claim Dead Bodies Of Their Colleagues
There was pandemonium at the premises of Osun State University Teaching Hospital Complex, Osogbo on Wednesday, when suspected armed Cultists invaded the hospital with dangerous weapons to claim the corpses of deceased colleagues.
Sources said the hoodlums numbering about 20 armed with axes , cutlasses, charms and other harmful objects threatened to injured the management of the hospital should they failed to release corpses of their members dumped at the hospital mortuary. .
According to an Eyewitness account, suspected cultists stormed the hospital at the early hours of Wednesday and allegedly laid siege at the entrance of the said hospital crating panic for people coming in and out of the hospital.
Some of the hoodlums were standing outside while others approached medical personnel of the hospital demanding the immediate release of their colleagues dead bodies
Reports said the demand cause a serious commotion between them and the hospital officials who insisted that, laid down protocols must be followed before the corpses could be released to them
The suspects our Correspondent gathered threatened to deal with the hospital management, if their request is not granted .the situation was highly tensed before the arrival of security operatives who restore normalcy.
It will be recalled that two suspected hoodlums have reportedly killed yesterday, while one other sustained injuries, following the clash between two rival groups believed to be cultists in Osogbo, Osun state Capital.
Our correspondent gathered that some suspected cultists belong to another cult group in Osogbo on Tuesday stormed the area believed to be the base of other group following a crisis that had earlier ensued between them .
The ugly development which nearly led to fiasco between them, saw many health officials retreating and gradually withdrawing from the troubled zone to avoid being brutalised by the violent looking trouble makers.
Many health officials who were not at the scene, took to their heels while matured ones among the workers pleaded with the gang to be patient with them as their request would be attended to in no distance time.
All efforts to claim their corpses forcefully proved futile as the hospital management refused to compromise their standard.
However, policemen later who were later drafted to the scene were able to bring situation under control.
The cultists after much persuasions accepted to follow due process to claimed the corpses of their colleagues for possible burial
Confirming the incident, the chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Babatunde Afolabi said the matter has been rested, they have done the coroner for the corpse, so they have taken the body out for burial.
