Suspected Monkeypox Case: 14-Year Old Boy Possesses Symptoms In Osun
As the first case of Monkeypox was healed, a 14-Year Old Boy has been found in possession of symptoms of the disease and was brought to the General Hospital in Asubiaro, Osogbo, the osun state capital.
The boy, whose body was full of rashes and shores making his parents to presume he is suffering from monkeypox disease and was brought to the hospital around 12pm on Monday for treatment.
On his arrival, he was admitted to the Trauma session of the hospital, where the medical experts were kitted in disease preventive and personal protective equipment before series of tests were carried out on him.
The Personnel from Disease Surveillance Notification Unit were part of the team that bared their experts on the boy to discover the cause and whether the ailment is Monkeypox or any other diseases.
Among other tests that were exercised on him,his blood sample was taken.
Recall the suspected first case of Monkeypox disease was discovered in Iperindo, Atakumosa East Local Government of the State, last week.
The team of the medical experts however said they cannot confirm the boy of being in possession of Monkeypox disease for now but until the results of the tests are out
“We cannot be too sure that what we are treating is monkeypox until the result of the test is out. But with the symptom we are seeing, it is likely to be monkeypox”, said a medical expert who was part of the team that treated the boy.
It was learnt that the results of the tests will be out on Thursday to know whether the disease is Monkeypox or not.
Confirming the incident from the Commissioner for Health, Isamotu, said he was not aware of the new case.
It remains a suspected case until the results confirm that it is actually monkeypox,he added.
