2023: Project Beyond 2023 Urges Alaafin, Ooni, Others To Advise Their Subjects TO Avoid ‘Sad Repetition Of History’

–Says Some Spoilers Are Hellbent On Ruining Yoruba Chances

Rising from its meeting in Ibadan earlier on Thursday, the Yoruba caucus of the foremost Tinubu Support group, Asiwaju Project Beyond 2023 has called on the traditional rulers and leaders in Yoruba land to call their subjects (sons or daughters) who are hell bent on ruining the Yoruba’s chances to clinch Nigerian presidency come 2023 to order to avoid unnecessary and avoidable repetition of sad history in the land.

In a statement released in Ibadan on Thursday by its National Director of Media & Publicity, Comrade Adeboye Adebayo, the project believe that the current dimension being played out in the national polity is dangerous for the land and it is capable of ruining the bright chances of the Yoruba nation to clinch the Presidency of Nigeria come 2023.

According to him “We just concluded the meeting of the Yoruba caucus of the Project Beyond 2023 here in Ibadan where we analysed the current happenings in the national polity and came up with resolutions which will be transmitted to the critical stakeholders in the Yoruba nation in due course. However I am using this medium on behalf of the other leaders of the project to urge the leaders of traditional institutions in Yoruba land; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Obateru Akinrutan, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akinolu and other traditional and political leaders to advise their subjects (sons or daughters) who may be hellbent on destroying the chances of Yoruba to become President of Nigeria come 2023 to desist from such for the sake of Yoruba unity”.

“As we are all aware a son of the soil; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is a leader with clear vision and intellectual capacity, a patriotic leader of Yoruba extraction that has paid his dues has come out to declare his intention to lead the country as President, he has officially informed President Buhari, he has visited virtually all Yoruba Obas to seek their supports and prayers and all Yoruba Obas have collectively resolved to support him with prayers, mobilise for him and they have all equally endorsed him as their common candidate and the sole candidate of Yoruba land and now we are seeing some other politicians from Yoruba land, declaring for the same office, for us such act is unpatriotic and affront against the wish of traditional institutions in Yoruba land” Adebayo noted.

The Project Beyond 2023 spokesman said “Do not get me wrong, We are not saying other Yoruba sons and daughters have no right to declare intentions, they have the right but what we are saying is that someone has come out, he has declared interest, everyone agrees that he is competent and capable, Yoruba leaders have accepted him and endorsed him, why coming out against him if not to play spoilers’ role? That is why we say it is an affront against the wishes of Yoruba traditional leaders whom we respect and hold in high esteem and it is a taboo in our culture”.

He then said the responsibility is now on the traditional leaders of Yoruba land to wade in and call these people to order so as not to blow away the bright chances of Yoruba land to clinch the Nigeria’s Presidency come 2023.

“We resolved to send emissaries to the Yoruba traditional and political leaders to inform them of our resolutions today but we deemed it very necessary to humbly call on them through this media platforms to kindly wade in and call these people to order so that we can face the poll on one front. Culturally, history is rearing its head for sad repetition but we must not allow ourselves to be used as tools for sad events to repeat itself. If someone has cursed us as Yoruba nation, our traditional rulers must rise to the occasion responsibly and clear it off using the spiritual power they are endowed with. We humbly advise the Obas to invite those involved and discussed with them and ensure that Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been firstly endorsed by them is supported to become President so that all of us will be on the good side of history ” Adebayo concluded.

It would be recalled that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initially declared his intention to run for President and he has secured the support and endorsement of all the Yoruba traditional leaders. Just few days ago, another Yoruba man, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also came out to declare intention to run for the same office and rumours has it that another Yoruba man, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is preparing to declare his intention to run for the same office.
