Police Invasion: 4 Allegedly Arrested Over Illicit Drug In Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Police Command in its committment to have a state free of criminality, has invaded Gbarantoru community and arrested Four suspected drug dealers who have a factory used in producing and selling illicit drugs in the area.

The police who was said to have acted upon an intelligent information received from members of the public about criminal hideout in the community before the arrests were carried out.

Speaking on the arrest on Tuesday, Police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said the anti-kidnapping unit of the command acted on a tip-off and raided the hideout.

Saying during the operation, police operatives recovered a large quantity of Crystal Meth, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs in a large quantity.

He said: “Based on a tip-off that criminals are producing and selling illicit drugs at Gbarantoru community, a suburb of Yenagoa, operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit Bayelsa State Command, on 11 April 2022, at about 0300 hours, raided the hideout and recovers a large quantity of Crystal Meth, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.

“One Josephine Chibuzo, a female aged 51; Chibuzor Uzor, a male aged 33; Timi Peter, a male, aged 25 and Favour Josiah; a female aged 25 years were arrested.

“The suspects are undergoing interrogation and upon conclusion of the investigation will be charged to court,” he added.
