One Killed As Gangs Clash In Osun Community

A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man has been killed after rival groups clashed in Ikire, Irewole local Government Area of Osun State.
CityMirrorNews gathered that violence broke out around Sango area of Ikire between the two groups following a disagreement.
At least, six suspectes have been arrested by the Osun State police command in connection with the killing of the middle aged man.
The suspects who are now being interrogated by the State Criminal Investigations Department of the command were said to have been given useful information to the police on the clash.
A source in the area, who preferred anonymity told CityMirrorNews that a particular group of hoodlums, had approached a shop owner, and demanded for money.
It was further learnt that after the first group had left, another set approached the woman for money and she refused.
“The woman later called members of the first group that she settled and they came around and engaged the second group. It was a free for all. One person was shot dead. The shop belonging to the woman was also attacked,” the source said.
But while speaking on the incident, Osun command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed death of a man in the clashes.
“One person was shot dead but normalcy has returned to the area. We have arrested six suspects in connection with the crises. We also going after others mentioned as having played role in the crises,” Opalola concluded.
