Afenifere Advises Buhari To Recall Ex-Servicemen Over Insecurity In Nigeria
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to recall retired military and police officers to bring an end to the insessant security attack ravaging the country.
Afenifere said this on Sunday while considering the level of attacks Nigerians witness daily, now urged the president to look inward and meet with the ex-servicemen in tackling insecurity in the country.
It said since the efforts of the government had not yielded the desired results, it was incumbent upon Buhari to call on retired military personnel for help.
According to Daily Trust,Afenifere’s national publicity secretary, Jare Ajayi in a statement, challenged the president to translate his vow to “clean up the mess in Nigeria into reality.”
He said having been the Head of State and the fact that he contested for the presidency before winning the fourth time, Buhari should do far better than what Nigerians had got so far from his administration.
“The level of insecurity was compounded by the unprecedented high cost of living, collapse of social welfare, malfunctioning infrastructure, high level of unemployment, crime and hopelessness.
“Those to be recalled should include the retired soldiers, police and security officers of various hues. State police should also be allowed forthwith.”
He therefore encourage the president to act as a matter of urgency to sit with the retired military and police personnel in order to put this ugly trend to a stop and make Nigeria a peaceful state for everyone to live.
