Osun NSCDC Warns Residents Against Child Abuse
The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Osun State, Commandant Emmanuel Ocheja has sounded a note of warning to residents of the state on the need to desist from any act of child abuse.
The State Commandant gave the warning while featuring on the Command’s TV Program, “The Defender”
Represented by the Head of Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking, Irregular Migration and Gender Based Unit, Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Onifade Clement, Ocheja expressed the readiness of the command to combat criminal acts against children.
The program according to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corps II (ASC II), Atanda Olabisi, is in collaboration with Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), promotes, highlights, and showcases the progress and activities of the Corps and its synergies with other sister agencies.
Explaining the functions of the Unit and its readiness to combat criminal acts against children, he said, ‘Child Right Acts has been domesticated in Osun State and will be used against anyone found guilty of abuse and ill-treatment of any child.’
He urged parents to desist from subjecting children to child labor, abuse and other forms of molestations, as the Corps has the backings of both the Federal and the State Government laws to fight against child abuse.
He praised the existing synergy amongst sister agencies and other relevant agencies for efficient results in ensuring brighter and secured future for all the children in the country.
Meanwhile, the Command had earlier paraded a woman for allegedly pouring hot water on her child, though investigation is still ongoing.
He therefore urged members of the public to report any case of child abuse to the Command for prompt response. She assures the public of the confidentiality, of any information given to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, to ensure security of lives, property and investments of citizens.
