Ganduje Releases 3,898 Inmates In Seven Years

In compliance with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)’s call for de-congestion of correctional centres, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has released a total of 3,898 inmates across Kano correctional centres within seven years.

The exercise, which was effected during the Sallah celebrations was through the State Prerogative of Mercy Committee at the intervals of Sallah festivities.

The 90 inmates, who were released on Saturday (Sallah day) were among the released 3,898, as stated during the Sallah visit to Gorondutse Correctional Centre.

In a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar also quoted his boss’ assurance to continue with the good work, until 2023 when his administration would terminate.

“This exercise is in compliance, with President Muhammadu Buhari’s pursuit for decongestion of our correctional centres.”

Inmates were sighted on the occasion hailing the governor for his merciful tendencies throughout his administration.

“We will continue with this good initiative. And at the same time, I assure you that the process will continue even after I leave office.

“When my Deputy, Nasiru Gawuna, who is the governorship candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, wins, come 2023, the policy will continue.”

In his brief remarks, the Controller of Kano Correctional Centre, Sulaiman M. Inuwa hailed governor Ganduje’s good gesture, revealing further that: “In my 30 years of working experience, I have never come across a governor, who did something close to this.”
