Osun RAMP Sensitises Newly Elected Local Govt Chairmen On Road Inventory

Osun State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project has sensitized 69 newly elected local government chairmen in the state on road inventory.

The one day workshop sensitization which includes Local Councils Development Authority(LCDA) was held on Monday at the local government service commission in Osogbo, capital Of Osun State.

Speaking at the workshop, the Special Adviser to the Governor for Rural Development And Community Affairs, Engr. Raifu Adekunle Olabamiji who doubled as the Project Coordinator said the sensitization programme was aimed at creating a collaborative effort in the assemblage of cohesive and verify survey on road inventory in the state.

The coordinator said the local govt chairmen and LCDAs need to be carrying along considering their importance in the grassroots development and being the closet government to the people.

Adekunle explained that road inventory is a comprehensive survey which can be used to study the profile of the roads in the area of study features such as pavement widths , street lighting , luminosity, drain types encroachment, presence of vendors /street furniture , bus stop among others.

He noted that those features mentioned if properly studied and detailed can result to the most accurate and detailed profile of the existing conditions.

” We know your importance in the grassroots development as being the closet government to the people and that is why we could not do it without carrying you alone.

“The director of worlds in all the local government and LCDAs will play a prominent role in the success of the exercise because of their positions as the heads of works department who have the list and data of am roads in their jurisdiction.

He charged the elected local government chairman and Local Council Development Authority to support and cooperate with those who are going to carry out the exercise in their jurisdiction.

Engineer Adekunle thereby appreciated the governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for his contribution and opportunity given to them to organize the workshop despite the paucity of fund in the state.

Earlier, the commissioner for Rural Development and Community in Osun , Mr Oladimeji-Olanibi Adesegun charged the chairmen to see their work as a call to service and cooperate with the directors of works and project coordinator in their community to carry out their project.

He urged them to ensure they embark a project in their host community adding that God will always remember and reward any project done by them in their community and that their name will be written with gold.

He praised the Special Adviser For Rural Development & Community Affairs for his sincerity and hard work in the state. He said his hardwork and diligent resulted him to be doubled as the project coordinator.
