Osun Guber Poll: Muslim Women Organise Prayer For Oyetola, Solicit Support For Tinubu

Ahead of July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun State, a socio-political group, Coalition of Muslim Women For Asiwaju (COMWA), Thursday, organized a special prayer for the success of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the poll.

The Muslim women in the three in one programmes urged the Muslim umah not to sell their votes but rather cast it for the governor come July 16, 2022.

In her opening remark, the Osun state Coordinator of COMWA, Mrs. Shakirat Adeniyi , said they decided to organise the prayer for the success of Governor Gboyega Oyetola whom she described as the most qualified among the contestants and the Presidential candidate of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

Adeniyi while stressing the need for every Muslims in the state to continue to pray for Oyetola’s success, said it becomes imperative because he’s the only Muslim governor in the southern part of the country, adding that his re-election would be a favour for the Muslim umah in the state.

According to her “This program is to sensitize Muslim women on political awareness for them to be able to know the right people to vote for. We want our brothers and sisters to come out en masses on July 16 to vote in muslim candidate.

“We have a lot of aspirants but in Southern Nigeria, Governor Oyetola remains the only Muslim and we have to come together to assist him in mobilizing other Muslims to achieve our aim”.

The Chairperson, Mrs Rasheedah Adebari, said the coalition is formulated in a bid to enlighten people, especially women on the need to fully participate, saying it was the time for them to liberate themselves by engaging political gladiators socially, and politically.

COMWA according to Adebari, is a Coalition of Muslim Women for Asiwaju; covering all political zones across Nigeria to foster peace and progress in Nigeria, using political fairness and justice.

“It is an avenue for us Muslimahs (Muslim Women) to liberate ourselves as Nigerians by engaging political gladiators socially, and politically. CoMWA is also to serve as a medium to show our support and pray for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oyetola.

“The history of this country is replete with a colossus of men and women who have contributed in no small measure to the building and nurturing of the nascent democracy we are savoring today. At the very height of these giants, is an enigma of inexplicable qualities, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu – a true democrat and probably the most outstanding symbol of true federalism Nigerians have ever known.

“From the North to South, West to East, he carved a microcosm of Nigeria in the womb of Lagos’s entire system of governance and extends dividends of democracy to all residents without any form of stratification.

“Combining true Federal Character with emulatory religiosity, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu extols the virtues of religious tolerance in practical terms by bringing the finest, polished people of diverse religious backgrounds to the limelight of politics.

“Thus, the need for us to have a first Southern Muslim as the next president of our country.

“To this end, we at COMWA are appealing to all patriotic APC delegates to vote for a tested, trusted and the most experienced aspirant whose political trajectory is not just a living encyclopedia of reference for the Nigeria of our dream but is indeed a working template which has traversed its experimental enclave in Lagos to the drawing boards of both the federal and state governments in driving the forces of giant developmental projects and programs in various states of the nation.

“By extension of our social constituencies and participation in APC, we assure the party and our preferred aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that all our members, husbands, children, and extended family are eligible to vote in the 2023 presidential election. And with the permission of Allah, we believe Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would emerge as the winner.

“Our prayer as Muslim groups is for Allah to crown all the human efforts and tactics in this presidential race. The political space has been awash with plethoral intrigues ranging from insults, aspersions, connivings, schemings, and disloyalty ever since the declaration to run. All these are enough to break the will of the feeble-minded but the raging storm is not a match for solid rock. We beseech you to keep calm as God is in control. Just like God rescued Prophet Nuh (asw) from the ganged up against him, Jagaban will overcome. It is in this direction that we are staging prayers and invoking Allah to be your strength in these trying times. We strongly believe we would come out victorious. Aameen.

“All the above prayers are repeated for our gentle, amiable, cool-headed, capable, intelligent, financial guru, economic giant, incorruptible, indefatigable, and God-fearing Governor Adeboyega Oyetola to be victorious in the July 16 election.

“We are not only voting Oyetola as a worthy ambassador in entire Southern Nigeria, we are equally supporting him as a worthy administrator who has done us proud as Muslims, managing the scarce resources of Osun to achieve great feats without borrowing or failing in his financial obligations as the governor.

“It’s in this sense that we are declaring our unalloyed and total support for Oyetola Leekan si. After all, nobody changes the winning team. Oyetola towers above all the pretenders and jesters. He does not deal in theories. He is practical and realistic to the core. He is a silent achiever. So, let the achievements continue.

“We will not relent. We are focused on the goal! And Allah by our side, we are hopeful that victory is ours. We pray that Allah in his infinite mercy accepts our prayers and makes us among the successful ones”.

Also speaking, Hajia Rasheedat Hassan pray to Allah for the victory of Oyetola and Tinubu in the upcoming polls.

She said that “We want God Almighty to assist us to make sure that Muslim wins as the governor of the state and also Muslim become the president of this nation, we believe, with that we will be able to enjoy what Allah wants and forbid what Allah forbids us .

“We should try to get our voters card and cast our vote on the right part and pray to God Almighty to achieve our aim and to make all our dream come to reality .

“We are creating awareness for people to go out and vote and the person to vote for and the reason for them to do that and our aim at the end of the election is to have the person we want at the state and national level.
