Man Bags 2 Years Imprisonment For Assaulting IBEDC Staff In Osun

An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, on Friday, convicted and sentenced a 22-year-old man, Durotoye Olamilekan to two years imprisonment for assaulting a staff member of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
The convict was said to have committed the offence on the 22 day of July, 2019 at Oredunni Community opposite Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).
Police Prosecutor, Rasaki Olayiwola had during the arraignment narrated how Mr. Durotoye Olamilekan’s conduct likely to cause breach of peace and threat the life of Mr. Yusuf and one other staff of IBEDC, Mr. Razaq Lateef.
Olayiwola went on to tell the court that Mr Durotoye disrupted the IBEDC’s staff while discharging their lawful duty as he beat Mr. Yusuf, tore his cloth and pursued him and his colleague with a cutlass.
The offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 35, 451, 249 and 86 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol II laws Of Osun state of Nigeria 2002.
Magistrate A.O Oloyade convicted Olamilekan base on the facts of the case presented before the court sentenced him to six months imprisonment for each of the 4 counts and the term of imprisonment to run concurrently.
However, Magistrate A.O Oloyade gave the defendant an option of fine total of #70,000.
