Shootout In Ibadan Poly As Secret Cults Clash
The management of the Polytechnic Ibadan says academic activities will continue despite a shootout between cult gangs on campus.
There was a gunfight between rival secret cults on Tuesday in the school.
“The academic calendar is not affected in any way, and nothing will affect it,’’ a spokesperson for the institution, Soladoye Adewole, told journalists.
Cult gangs engaged in a shootout on the campus for about 20 minutes. Mr Adewole disclosed that security agents were working to restore peace to the campus.
“We are liaising with all the security agencies, and shortly, everything will be put under control.”
Reports said stray bullets hit some people in the crossfire. A trader on the campus said the usual hustle and bustle stopped as many people took cover.
As the shooting went on, the driver of a Toyota Corolla car lost control around the sewage area of the campus, climbed over a tree and rammed into the roof of staff quarters.
A commercial motorcyclist was injured in the melee and taken to the University College Hospital.
