In recognition of his tremendous achievements within the space of three and half years in office, traditional rulers in Iwo, Ayedire, Ola-Oluwa and Ejigbo local government areas of Osun State have thrown their weights behind the reelection bid of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

The monarchs passed the vote of confidence on the administration of Oyetola on Sunday during a press conference held at the Palace of Olu of Ileogbo, Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje.

Reading the communique on behalf of other monarchs, Oba Agbaje said Oyetola has scored 85% in governance, stating that the Governor deserves another term.

The traditional rulers also expressed support to the efforts of federal and state government in tackling the security and economic challenges facing majority of Nigerians.

“In the build up to the election of governor Oyetola in 2018, we from the West Senatorial District raised our voice and mobilized our people towards that it was our turn. It was not because we hate Oyetola, we only love our communities. In the Holy Bible and the glorious Quran, love of one’s community is part of religion. As God decreed it, Oyetola won the election and he has been doing well.

“Concerning the governorship election which will be held in Osun state in July 16, 2022, we have consulted and calculated on what will benefit our communities and our people. Every Oba, in this area including His royal Majesty Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu I, the Oluwo of Iwo, the chairman, Iwo traditional council and our various community leaders have been holding consultations and discussions.

The traditional rulers said though Osun West Senatorial District has three zones, only Iwo zone, made up of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Local Government Areas that has not tasted the seat of power.

“Governor Oyetola, if he wins the next election, has only four years to spend. That will pay us better than for us to support other communities who are planning to take second round when we have not taken one. If we do not support candidate Oyetola, and instead support another candidate who may spend longer period in office, and may have taken our own chance for decades. Four years waiting is a shorter route than sacrificing our chance and our future for other people to take.

“When governor Oyetola completes his term of eight years, by the grace of God, we shall take our own turn. Therefore, we state unequivocally that, for this governorship election, we should all support governor Gboyega Oyetola in our own interest, and in the interest of our dear state. Any other alternative will jeopardize our hope of ever producing governor in our Federal constituency.
