Ondo NUJ Strategises For 2nd Phase Of Pen Estate, As New Exco Pays Homage To Osi Monarch

The newly elected State Executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Ondo State Council has paid a Royal Homage to the Traditional ruler of Osi Community, the Ireshi of Osi Kingdom in Akure North local government area of the State, Oba David Olajide to familiarize with the monarch and to strategize on how to ensure rapid development of the NUJ Pen Estate located in the town.

The new Executive of the Union during the visit on Tuesday, is also making mission to make strategic arrangements to secure land for the Second Phase of the estate.

Oba Olajide who expressed delight that to host Ondo NUJ Pen Estate project which started more than five years ago in his community, called on land owners at the estate to be more committed to developing their land interest of all parties, as the town is desirous of rapid development.

The Monarch said the community was ready to still partner the union in the area of actualising the second phase of the Pen Estate for Ondo NUJ under the leadership of Comrade Leke Adegbite.

Oba Olajide while congratulating the new state executives, wished them a successful tenure in office just as he prayed for all members of the union.

Osi Kingdom is playing host to some housing estates while Oba Olajide had facilitated the location of a Divisional Police Station, Chief Magistrate Court and even construction of an office for the Assistant Inspector General, AIG for Ondo and Ekiti states, but the town is still hoping to have government’s primary and secondary schools to cater for large population of children of school age, as well as construction of only road that links the community with Akure Airport road and Akure-Ado Ekiti road.  

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Leke Adegbite while thanking the community for playing host to journalists in the state through the Pen Estate, said the gesture was the height of friendship between the union and the royal father.

Adegbite who described the monarch as revolutionist who has transformed Osi kingdom from an agrarian town to a commercially viable community.

The NUJ Chairman said the current leadership would do humanly possible to ensure the first phase of the Pen Estate witnessed rapid development, to pave the way for the Second phase promised by the Executives.

He appealed to the state and Akure North local governments to encourage and complement developmental strides of Osi Community, by constructing the only road leading to the community from Akure- Owo highway/Akure Airport road.
