PDP Chieftain Blasts Wole Oke Over ‘War Chest’ Comment, Says Credible Candidate, Strategy Win Election, Not Money

A statement credited to the Law Maker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke asserting that the only aspirant that has the war chest to prosecute the next gubernatorial in Osun State is senator Ademola Adelele has been described as mythic and personal inclination of the lawmaker.

Commenting on the statement, a respected PDP leader in the state, Hon. Lekan Oyediran said that the statement was at variance with good reasoning and the purported reconciliatory notion that the lawmaker intends to drive, adding that playing down other aspirants and projecting senator Ademola based on his deep pocket is dishonourable and does not portray the Party well.

In a release that was signed and forwarded to pressmen in Osogbo, the state capital, Tuesday, the PDP leader maintained that Oke’s statement could have been scrolled through like every other media rant but for the defective comment which is itself a polarising remark.

The former lawmaker contended that credible candidate, good strategy and unity of purpose win an election and that everything is not all about money, declaring boldly that if money is the only virtue and all that Senator Ademola can boost of, then he has nothing and can not be counted on for the exalted responsibility of leading a troubled state like Osun.

The PDP boss added that Oke’s call on the Senator representing the Ife/ Ijesa Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi to mediate in the lingering crisis rocking the party was in order but his premise and justification were impolite and objectionable.

His words, “Oke is one of those who have benefited maximally from the PDP. So, if all he could do is to further make himself a short tool in a devil’s workshop, seeking to polarise the party instead of joining leaders of thoughts who are working day and night to appeal to the warring groups to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign, then something fundamental is wrong with him.

“Using reverse logic, the lawmaker in a relative development declared that, ‘my duty is to market my candidate ethically, decently, morally and within the ambit of the law. Some people have asked me to be neutral. Why should I be neutral? I will begin to issue reasons why my Candidate is the best.’

“Apparently, the first reason his aspirant is the best is because of his rich background. The second, according to Oke is that ‘Sen Ademola Adeleke and Alh Fatai Akinbade are the only two politicians from the West that can go round Osun State with their two eyes closed and both are friends over years.’

“The same Ademola was the candidate of the party in 2018 and ever since the America returnee has found his way back home, he is yet to be seen having a meaningful engagement with the people he wants to govern let alone go round the state. At least, Ademola was in the saddle in 2018, Oke should do well to provide at least 3 shreds of evidence of his move around the state and his message to the people, not what he was reported to have said or said on his behalf.

“In all, I am not surprised. Oke’s arm twisting and reversed logic are worn out narratives and people are already seeking to know the truth and sooner or later, every lover of good governance and purposeful leadership will realise that putting money at the wheel is like building a castle in the air and confront the feudalists and their ilks in the party with all seriousness if indeed we are committed in our proclaimed and unstoppable march to reclaim Osun from the hostile grips of the ruling party.

“For the umpteenth time, PDP stakeholders and faithful should disregard Oke’s proposition that Senator Ademola Adeleke should and ought to have been adopted to flag the banner of the party again. This unconstitutional move and absurd ‘tradition’ are part of the issues affecting the party till this moment. And, if the rejection of the so-called adoption by the elder brother of the senator, Mr Deji Adeleke was not enough, at least the actions and moves that greeted the development when it was trumpeted long ago should be enough as evidence that there are still men of good reasoning in the party, who will not put convention ahead of the party constitution.”
