Osun LGA Poll: Adeoye, Others Have Not Stepped Down For Any Consensus Candidate
The campaign organization of Hon. Sakirat Adeoye, a grassroots politician seeking the Chairmanship position of Olorunda North LCDA, on Thursday, dismissed reports making the rounds that she and other aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) for the 2022 Osun local government elections have stepped down for a consensus candidate.
Some online media platforms had on Wednesday, September 1, 2022, reported that Sakirat Adeoye, who is the incumbent Vice Chairman of Olorunda North, had joined other aspirants seeking the APC Chairmanship ticket in the Area Council to step down for a particular candidate selected by the political party.
But the Spokesman of the Sakirat Adeoye Campaign Organization, Comrade Sanusi Olayemi, debunked the viral report, describing it as ‘sheer mischief’ planted by those who want to gain the APC ticket by deceit.
“The report is false and fabricated by those who intend to gain the APC Chairmanship ticket in Olorunda North by hook or crook.
To set the records straight, Hon. Sakirat Adeoye and several other aspirants had a meeting earlier in the week with the leaders of the party. At the gathering, some of the aspirants made it clear that they are opposed to the idea of picking a consensus candidate for the party. The Vice Chairman was among other stakeholders who vehemently kicked against jettisoning the primary election.”
“At the meeting, there was no unanimous agreement on a consensus candidate as it is yet premature,” the statement emphasized.
The campaign organization further noted that its candidate was eminently qualified for the APC Chairmanship ticket as a serving Vice Chairman, a loyal party member, a grassroots politician and a result-oriented leader.
Party members in Olorunda North have now been advised to disregard any speculations or rumors making the rounds that the APC has anointed and selected a particular aspirant for the Chairmanship ticket.
