OSIEC Debunks Rumours For Slated Date To Conduct Council Polls In Osun
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC),has debunked the rumours in circulation that a date has been slated by the commission to conduct local governments election in the state.
The commission announced this on Monday in reaction to the suit filed by Osun state chapter of the people’s Democratic party PDP, asking the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo to stop the commission from conducting any local government poll before the expiry of governor Gboyega Oyetola administration.
Speaking on the matter, OSIEC Chairman, Otunba Segun Oladitan, described the rumours making the rounds that the council election had been slated for October 29, 2022, as baseless and unfounded.
Saying:”We’re yet to announce the date for the election.
“Only the commission is empowered to announce the election date and that any data coming from any other source should be disregarded by the public.
“At the appropriate time, the commission would come out with the election guidelines to put a stop to the unnecessary rumours being peddled around”.
Oladitan expressed the commitment of OSIEC to conduct a credible and acceptable council election at the appropriate time.
