Osun Assembly: Environmental Protection Bill Scales Through First Reading

The private member bill on Monday scaled through first reading in the plenary at House of Assembly Osogbo.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye in his remarks on the bill noted that the bill would solve and take care of environmental issue in the state.

He said that the bill would regulate waste management and enhance internal generated revenue of the state.

According to him, “The bill will solve environmental issue and regulate waste management in the state”.

“The bill will enhance internal generated revenue of the state” he added.

However, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye received a letter from governor of the state Mr. Gboyega Oyetola seeking reappointment of Osun Assembly Service Commission member.

The members including Hon. Abiodun Awolola, Hon. Ismaila Kolawole, Hon. Israel Aloba, Hon. Ajibola Akinloye, Hon. Omidiora Olalekan and Alhaji Kareem Afolabi respectively.

He directed the nominees to submit 35 copies of their curriculum vitae between now and Friday and to appear for screening exercise on Monday 7/2/2022.

In another development, the State House of Assembly and House of Assembly Service Commission holds interreligious prayer to usher in another legislative session of 2022.

The prayer and exhortation was led by Chief Imam of the house of assembly Sheik Abdulfatai Afolabi, Chaplain of Assembly Pastor Ayeni Muyiwa and Permanent Secretary OSHA Commission Evangelist Sola Omiyefa respectively.

Also the honourable members led the prayer for staffs, leadership of the house and others.

In his remarks, the Speaker State of Osun House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye gave thanks to God
Almighty for his perseverance on everyone throughout the last year.

He charged the staff to be more dedicated and committed to their duties this year.

He urged everyone also to put on their best into legislative duties.

He advised everyone in the state to their best during approach election period’s for goodness sake.

According “l promised that the house will have smooth legislative year”
“As election approach, we all need to consider peace of the land” he added.

He advised members to rely and begin with God for all things.
