Independence: Osun Monarch Calls For Peaceful Coexistence Among Nigerians
As Nigeria celebrates 62nd Independence Day anniversary, people of the country have been urged to build a nation of collective dream where love, peace and unity reign
A paramount traditional ruler and Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa Kingdom in Oriade local government area of Osun State, Oba (Dr) Michael Odunayo Ajayi Arowotawaya II, gave the charge in his congratulatory message to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 62nd independence anniversary celebration.
According to the traditional ruler who commended the people of the community and entire states for maintaining peace, said peaceful co-existence is key to a nation’s prosperity as nothing functions in an unstable democracy.
While thanking God for preserving the country, the Monarch said Nigeria is destined for greatness and so “we have every reason to celebrate His preservation over us”.
The Elerinmo who appealed to the rich and influential people to invest more in the local economy as one of the ways to tackle unemployment in the country, also urged government at various levels to provide conducive environment for industries and businesses to operate.
The monarch noted that for a country to strive there must be fair and equitable distribution of political appointments and other goodies among the people of the country regardless of tribe and religious or political affiliations
He, however called for stern punishment for any leader caught for engaging in corrupt activities so as to serve as deterrent to others just as he called for the better utilisation of the resources gifted the country by the supreme deity.

According to Oba Arowotawaya, by so doing, the acute problems of unemployment, insecurity, unrest and poverty ravaging the land will reduce to the bearest minimum as this, in no small measure creat more jobs opportunity for the citizenry.
The first class traditional ruler pointed out that love, peace and tolerance were critical for societal development, hence the need for Nigerians to imbibe the virtues.
His words, “the importance of unity and peace to societal development cannot be underestimated.
“Peace is priceless and non negotiable, it is a necessary requirement for the development of any society.
“It is in view of this that I want to call on my subjects and other Nigerians to show love, embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations,” the Elerinmo said.
The Elerimo, however, used the occasion to call on investors from far and near to come to Erinmo land and invest adding that, they would not regret coming to invest in the country.
“In Erinmo-Ijesa community, there are government and private schools, hospitals, health centres, electricity, modern markets, accessible roads, drinkable water and adequate security network just to mention a few, so your coming to invest would not be in vain and you will not regret it, I assure you” Elerinmo stressed.
