ASUU: Please Return To Classroom – Buhari Begs University Lecturers
President Muhammadu Buhari has said it administration has made appreciable progress in redressing the issues of Asuu strike that have been lingering for over 11 years now.
The president reiterated his call for the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities to return to the classroom.
The president made the call during his address to the nation to mark the 62nd Independence Day anniversary on Saturday.
He promised that his administration will continue to address the demands of the lecturers within the limits of the “scarce resources”.
He said ” I’m using this independence Day celebration to reiterate my call for the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities to return to the classroom while assuring them to deal with their contending issues within the limits of the scarce resources available.
“This administration has made appreciable progress in redressing these issues that have been lingering for over 11 years “.
“The federal government will continue to mobilize resources both internationally and nationally towards funding education to ensure that our citizens are well educated and secured in various vocations in view of the fact that education is a leading determinant of economic growth.
It is no longer news that Nigerian university lecturers have been on strike since Feb.14 over unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
