The ancient town, which is the headquarters of the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
However, the attackers only had access to the bank’s Automatic Teller Machine.
A bullion van was sighted at Ifelodun Microfinancial Bank premises yesterday and this could possibly be the target of the attackers.
It would be recalled that a coordinated bank robbery incident which involved three new generation banks had occurred in the town on 12th February 2016 at about 3.30pm when the banks were about to close for business.
The incident left no fewer than 32 persons dead, including two bank officials and two policemen on guard at the bank.
An Osun State High Court sitting in the town subsequently sentenced three armed robbers who partook in robbing three new generation banks located at Ikirun in 2016 to death by hanging in January, 2020.
