The wife of Osun State Governor, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, has appealed to parents to take better responsibility for their children.
According to the first lady, the lack of parental care, guidance and support has had a negative impact on the development of the nation’s children.
Mrs Oyetola gave the charge while fielding questions from journalists during the Tafsir programme, held at the government house, Osogbo.
She lamented that majority of young boys are out at the corners engaging in, not only idleness, but becoming soldiers for the gangs that operate in inner city, communities due to lack of parental care.
This , the first lady said contributes not to the wellbeing of the nation but to the disintegration of society and
by extension the country.
While speaking on the significance of the Ramadan lecture, Mrs Oyetola said she organised the programme for the people in order to tap from the knowledge of Islamic scholars invited to educate the people in a way of Allah.
She further explained that the programme was organized as a way of giving back to the people.
She, however, called on Muslims faithful to continue to pray for the state during the month of Ramadan.
“Generally, during the period of Ramadan it’s always good to give and show love to people. We are all one, for the betterment of the society we should try to assist one another.
“This is a holy month and the month of forgiveness. My advice to the Muslims is to continue to obey the law of God, fear God, love one another and stay away from sin,” the Osun First Lady said.
