Federal Lawmaker, Ayeni Distributes 1, 200 Bags Of Fertilizer, Sprayers To Farmers In Osun

Honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, the lawmaker representing Ilesha South Federal Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, on Monday, in Ilesa , Osun State, flagged off the distribution of 1,200 bags of fertilizers to farmers in Ilesha South.
The lawmaker also distributed 1,200 sprayers and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the beneficiaries.
Speaking during the flag-off, Hon Ayeni said the distribution of the fertilizer to farmers in his constituency is part of his efforts to tackle food insecurity in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have to provide these fertilizers to our local farmers as a way of mitigating the impact of food insecurity in the region.
“My constituency is an agrarian one, hence the need to support my people with fertilizers, and this gesture is in line with my philosophy of eradicating poverty and hunger in my constituency.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has crippled the economy, there is need for our people to take agriculture more seriously as a source of livelihood,” he said.
The philanthropist cum Politician, who stated that he had recently distributed sawing machines, hair dryers and take off grants to youths in the urban areas, said the distribution of farming inputs would also be extended to other selected farmers in the next two weeks and in subsequent sections.

Hon Ayeni further said that the empowerment Programme was born out of his initiative to touch the lives of the rural dwellers courtesy of the fact that majority of these people practice agriculture.
“Unlike their urban counterparts, we have distributed equipment like hair dryers, sewing machines and other equipment.” he said.
“Another one is coming up in two weeks time. We will do another one after that. And after that. Serving the people is my core priority.”
“This is not the first time. Recently I have distributed sawing machines, hair dryers and grants to thousands of youths iny Constituency under my Empowerment Programmes as part of my efforts to reduce poverty among the people of my Constituency”. He said.
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional rulers, the Agbadae of Gbadae, Oba Olanrewaju Olaosebikan, commended the federal lawmaker for the gesture.
Oba Olaosebikan said the provision of the fertilizer was timely and would go a long way in helping farmers in the area.
He urged other Political office holders to emulate the good gesture of Honourable Ayeni.
The APC Chairman in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun, appreciated the lawmaker for giving back to the people of his Constituency.
Represented by Prince Femi Kujenbola, APC State Treasurer, Famodun said hon Ayenu, going by his reputation, has never disappointed them.
He said: “Honourable Ayeni is doing a great work for the people of his Constituency so, I urge them to vote for the APC in the next coming elections because nobody could have done it better than him.”
“He has proven himself to be an able representative. If we are to count all these things, we would discover how much he has spent on this project. He does what we need.”
Echoing a similar views, Chief (Mrs) Abeke Aluko, the Senatorial Woman Leader implored all the beneficiaries to put the fertilizers, sprayers and other equipment to good use.
She went on to pray that they have a fruitful year of harvest ahead.
“Election is imminent and we all feeling the frenzy already. Don’t let them deceive you with a sum of 2,000 Naira during election. Don’t let 2,000 Naira make you forget all these. Don’t sell your votes”, she said.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Mr. Gabriel Richard form Atakumosa West, Seyi Odeyemi and Ajanaku Kayode, all appreciated the Lawmaker for putting smiles on their faces.
The beneficiaries said,” we are so grateful to Honourable Babatunde for what he has done for us. We are so happy to be amongst the people who benefited from this Empowerment Programmes.
They therefore, promised to continue to support the lawmaker in his bid to provide dividend of democracy across the nooks and crannies of Ilesha South.
CityMirrorNews reports that the fertilizer would be distributed across the 46 wards that made up the constituency.
