COVID-19: Osun SA On Youths And Sports Urges Residents To Adhere To COVID-19 Safeguards

Following the increased cases of COVID 19 and death recently recorded in Osun State, the Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Youths and Sports, Honourable Lateef Adegboyega Adelabu has urged residents of the state to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safeguards.

Adelabu popularly called Aremo who gave the advice while addressing hundreds of youths in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Wednesday described the latest confirmed cases of the virus and deaths in the state as alarming, stressing the need for joint effort between the people and government

Aremo who had earlier distributed facemasks and hand sanitizers, charged the residents of the state to adhere to coronavirus prevention protocols, in order to curtail the spread of the disease in the state.

The grassroot politician who expressed worry over the rising cases of COVID-19 since the second wave of the disease said there is the need for the residents of the state to complement the efforts of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to curb the spread of the virus.

“Some who doubted the existence of COVID-19 and reality of the virus will have by now come to terms with the truth and reality of the disease.

“We have to obey all approved restrictions, guidelines, regulations and other protocols to check further spread of the virus in our state.

“The government of the state under the leadership of Governor Gboyega has been very proactive in ensuring that the state is safe for everyone to live and we need to complement the efforts of the government.

“The government had warned that failure to wear nose masks in the state will attract penalty. Wearing of face masks was in line with COVID-19 protocol designed to guarantee the safety and well-being of everyone.

Aremo further explained that the guidelines put in place by the state on how to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus are for the benefit of the people.

He enjoined the residents of the state to ensure that they maintain physical distance, adhere to restrictions on religious worship, ensure the washing of hands and use of sanitisers as well as ensure the constant use of nose masks.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola “believes in the welfare and good health of every resident of the state.”

He said: “We are here to continue the state-wide sensitization drive on how we all can play our part in containing the spread of the COVID-19. This pandemic has put the entire world at a standstill and our dear state has also been affected.
