Attack On NDA, Disgrace To Nigerian Military– Oyinlola

The resent attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), by armed bandits has been described as a total slap in the faces of the Nigerian military and the entire security system of the country.
A one time military administrator of Lagos State and former civilian governor of Osun state, Brigadier General Olagunsoye Oyinlola (rtd) said this during a telephone conversation with journalist in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Olagunsoye explained that the dastardly act that took place at the nation’s foremost military training institution is a disgrace not only to the military but the nation at large.
Recall that gunmen had early on Tuesday attacked the NDA, killed two officers and kidnapped another during the surprise attack.
“For this to have happened at the nation’s foremost military training institution, it means someone has refused to perform his duty and with that, only God can save us in this country.” He said.
Oyinlola who governed Osun state as a civilian governor between 2003 and 2007 used the opportunity to congratulate the government and the people of the state on the occasion 30th anniversary of the creation of the state.
Speaking on his achievement as a governor of Osun state, the former governor pointed out that the termination of Ife-modakeke crisis will continue to be one of the major achievements of his administration.
On the state owned University established by his government, prince Oyinlola explained that the focus of his administration was to bring educational development to the state.
He added that the belief of the government was that the multi-campus nature of the University would bring development to the communities where the campuses are located.
Regarding the debt profile of the state, Oyinlola disclosed that he did not know the amount currently owing by the state.
He however disclosed that the total amount of money he left behind as loan in 2007 was #7.5b
On his aspiration for the chairmanship position of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level,he said, “l will throw in my cap into the contest if it is zoned to the south west and if I’m able to muster the support of the stake holders”.
