Nigerians In Kasoa, Ghana Debunk Report On Criminal Complicity
…. Say We Are Responsible, Peaceful Residents
Nigerians in Kasoa, Ghana has debunked the report that the Nigerians are responsible for six out of every ten crimes committed in the area.
Chief Henry Ajaero, Ag. Chairman
All Nigerian Community (ANC-GH)
Kasoa District, Central Region in a statement signed and made available to CityMirrorNews described the claims as false, challenging the originator of the claims to provide evidence of the claims.
It would be recalled that CityMirrorNews had reported a story where it was stated that Chief Nana Kessington Oledo, has revealed that his fellow Nigerians are responsible for six out of every ten crimes committed in the area.
Reacting to the report, Chief Henry Ajaero refuted the claims, challenging the self acclaimed Chief of Nigerian community to prove his evidence.
According to Chief Ajaero, Chief of Nigerian Community” Nana Kessington Oledo is unknown to Nigerians in Kasoa, Central Region of Ghana.
Read the full statement bellow:
We the Nigerians in Kasoa, Central Region, Ghana have read the publication by City Mirror News, where it was stated that “The Chief is the Nigerian Community in Kasoa, Nana Kessington Oledo, has revealed that his fellow Nigerians are responsible for six out of every ten crimes committed in the area”.
According to the self-acclaimed Chief of Nigerian Community and I quote “I was with the chief of Police at Millennium City, and he told me; Chief you have to do something about this, every ten reported cases at the Police Station is 6/10 of Nigerians, you have six cases of Nigerians in every 10 cases reported at the Police Station, why is that so?”
I want to state boldly that such claim is false. Also, the mentioned “Chief of Nigerian Community” Nana Kessington Oledo is unknown to Nigerians in Kasoa, Central Region of Ghana. We have an existing and active ANC (All Nigerian Community, Ghana), with Regional and District arms of the Organization. I am sure you know more about ANC, the umbrella of all Nigerians in diaspora. On behalf of All Nigerians in Kasoa, we demand a proof of such malicious claim by Nana Kessington Oledo. He should provide evidence of his claims.
I have lived in Ghana for 6yrs, I know Ghana Police as a respectable institution with dignity. I also refuse to believe Nana Kessington Oledo’s aims that Ghana Police takes bribe to set Nigerian criminals free. I am sure that Nana Kessington knows more about the criminals in Kasoa (either Nigerians, Ghanaians or Other Nationals), he should be summoned by the Police authority for questioning.
Recently, a news article was published claiming that nine prison Escapees from Nigeria came into Ghana from the Volta rivers and have been arrested by the Ghana police.
As soon as the news broke out, the Nigerian High Commission and Nigerian Communities in Ghana jumped into action to profile the Arrested people to be sure if they are escapees from IMO prison, so as to take necessary actions.
Officers of the Mission visited the Ghana Police and Immigration Headquarters. The only information made available to them is that few Nigerians were arrested at the Volta region for border trespass, the Ghana Police or Immigration cannot and have not been able to confirm that they are escapees from Nigeria.
I challenged such media house to tell us where they got their information from. Up till now they are yet to respond and defend such report.
1. There is no wanted list presented to Ghana by the Nigerian government.
2. How do you know an escapee by just looking at the person?
3. Which jailbreaker will admit to being an escapee in another country?
I needed an explanation as to how they got those stories since the Ghana police and immigration denied given out such information and only said the arrested persons are border trespass offenders.
All these are attempts to robe Nigeria into internal security lapses, which I still don’t understand the motive.
It will be best to find a solution to solving our problems than resorting to blame games propaganda and stereotyping.
Since the border closure, many ECOWAS citizens have been arrested for illegal border crossing, some released, some deported.
What I don’t understand is the overzealousness to lay the responsibilities of the illegal activities happening in the country on the shoulders of Nigerians. I am not exempting Nigerians from involvement in crimes in Ghana, but it’s unbelievable to say that Nigerians are involved in 60% of the crimes committed in Ghana.
Three weeks ago a Ghanaian Mr. Stephen Donkor at Ablekuma fan milk kidnaped a Nigerian 2-year-old child. He was arrested at the scene of the crime, he was almost killed if not the father of the girl that saved him.
Is Mr. Donkor from IMO prison?
The two boys who slaughtered a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa-Ghana for money rituals are they from IMO prison jail?
The woman who burnt another woman’s child alive last week at Kasoa-Ghana is also from IMO prison?
Our demands are very clear on the issue, let Nana Kessington Oledo come out boldly to provide evidence of this 60% Nigerian criminals and the crimes they have committed.
Thank you.
Signed,
Chief Henry Ajaero
