2022: APC Leaders In Ilesa West LG Declare Support For Gov Oyetola, Dissociate Selves From TOP

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilesa West Local Government have declared support for Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s second term bid.

The leaders of the party made the declaration at a meeting which was held at the APC Secretariat in Isokun Ilesa, on Sunday.

The leaders at the meeting, however, dissociated themselves from The Osun Progressives (TOP), a group spearheaded by the immediate past governor of the state and the incumbent Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to a statement made available to CityMirrorNews on Monday, the decision was taken at a general meeting convened at the instance of the party Chairmen involving all the leaders and elders council, political appointees, ward executives and all members of the party where a communiqué was signed by the leaders.

The APC leaders, who described the members of TOP as disgruntled elements who have allowed themselves to be willing tools in the hands of devil, further reaffirm their endorsement of Governor Oyetola for a second term in the office.

The communiqué partly read, “We have thoroughly investigated and assessed all projects, and we are joyfully, exceedingly and overwhelmingly glad that in spite of the meager resources available to the state, glaring and daunting economic downturn and fiscal challenges in Nigeria with special mention to the monthly deductions of loans and debts from the federation account to the tune of N55billion in 28 months, the governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has performed exceptionally and excellently well, meeting the demands and aspiration of Osun electorates, fulfilling his electioneering promises to the populace and spreading the dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

“We hereby restate our uncompromising, unalloyed, unwavering, unbridled and 100% loyalty to his administration and government. We, members of APC in Ilesa West local government are proud of all his achievements and happy to be associated with him.

“In tune with the sacrificial, selfless service and commitment of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to the growth and overall development of Osun State, with retrospect and benefit of foresight that he remains the best candidate, administrator and leader as we approach the 2022 gubernatorial election, we hereby unanimously agree as members of APC in Ilesa West LG adopt Gboyega Oyetola as the sole candidate of our party in the election, we state unequivocally our support towards his re-electioneering campaign. On his mandate and mantra of Ilerioluwa 2022, we collectively stand.”

It added, “We commend the democratic approach of inclusive governance which is the hallmark of the Oyetola administration, the mechanism of conflict resolution, the peaceful coexistence and brotherliness in government matters in the executive, legislative and judiciary arms of government, the political cohesiveness within the party, dexterity of Mr. Governor among his brother governors, his appointment into the national caretaker committee of APC as the Zonal Chairman of the APC in the South Western zone of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states.

“These accolades are in conformity with your humility, integrity, political prowess, administrative acumen and integrity as the leader of the APC in the state which has attracted back into the progressive fold of the state political juggernauts and politicians of note with special reference to Senator Iyiola Omisore and all members of the former SDP.

“The governor, Gboyega Oyetola has ensured he communicates effectively and consistently with the APC leadership in the state under the chairmanship of Prince Gboyega Famodun (The APC Caretaker Chairman, Osun State) to ensure transparency in political appointments and considerations, entrenching democratic tenets and internal democracy within the party, smooth operation and effective management of all party related affairs from polling units, wards and local government mobilization towards galvanizing support for government programmes and policies.

“As such, the APC State Caretaker Chairman has ensured fair play, equity and justice within the ranks and files of the party so that we can remain an indivisible force and remain a more solid platform in the future elections. Once again, we state categorically that Governor Gboyega Oyetola remains the leader of the party in the state and Prince Gboyega Famodun is the APC Caretaker Chairman, and we are solidly behind both of them.”

“The members of APC in Ilesa West frown at the sinister and unconstitutional means of undemocratic agents within the party to cause disunity and acrimony within the APC family in the state, in an inglorious approach to create faction or factionalize the party through the creation and establishment of an unrecognized body called ‘ The Osun Progressives (TOP) ’.

“It is unheard of and quite shameful that former political office holders and beneficiaries of progressive government are the arrow heads of this group, who having gotten or taken their fair share in political patronage years back are championing and heading a coalition to destroy the party, government by continuous fanning the ember of disunity within the party.

“To this extent, we hereby dissociate in its entirety our affiliation and connection with the group ‘ The Osun Progressives (TOP) ’and all her members within our local government.”

“We equally issue a stern note of warning to all APC members in Ilesa West to disconnect forthwith their association with these wicked entities. We hereby proscribed with immediate effect all activities, gatherings and programmes of ‘ The Osun Progressives (TOP) ’ in all the 10 wards of Ilesa West local government.

“They are hereby declared persona non granta within Ilesa West, no matter their present or previous status or position within the APC fold. We hereby expose their inordinate ambition and personal greed of these clusters to create disaffection, strife, disharmony, plot to destabilize and essentially mislead members of the party towards their self – destruction. This directive takes immediate effect.”

Those present at the meeting include the leaders of the party in Ilesa West Local Government under the leadership of Hon. Gboyega Ajeleti (Chairman, APC Leaders & Elders Council); Olori Agbadaoje Mary Olusola (Chairperson, APC Ilesa West LG); Hon. Fakowajo Funso Oyedele (Chairman, APC Ilesa West Central LCDA); among others.
