The National leadership of the Radio, Television , Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) has appealed to Gov. Dapo Abiodun to lift the suspension on some members of staff of the state owned television station (OGTV).
RATTAWU made the appeal in a letter addressed to the governor and signed by its General Secretary , comrade A Akpousoh.
The union begged the governor to temper justice with mercy and lift the suspension on the affected members of staff of the station.
RATTAWU in the letter noted that its leadership will not support any form of indiscipline or lapses from its members in there establishment.
The union noted that its members are guided by principles of virtues and maturity, trust, respect for the civil service rules.
“On behalf of the National President of RATTAWU Comrade Kabir Tsanni, as well as other members of the Central Working Committee (CWC), we appeal for mercy.
“It has been brought to the attention of the National Secretariat of the Union, the suspension of some of our members in OGTV, Abeokuta by the state government due to their involvement in the leaked rushes (unedited material) of the Governor’s second year broadcast recorded on the 29th of May 2021 at the Governor’s Office.
“There is no doubt that this leakage of information from the governor’s speech before official broadcast must have brought an embarrassment to the state government and against the oath of secrecy as entrenched in the Civil Service rules which every civil servant is expected to comply with.
“While we condemn these lapses from members concern, we humbly
appeal for Your Excellency to temper justice with mercy and in the spirit of the good relationship you have been having with Labour in Ogun state.
“This intervention will go along way in consolidating industrial harmony which the state is noted for.
“On our part, we have cautioned very strongly our members in the
organisation against such lapses and also reminded them of the need to maintain official secret policy as expected in their establishments.
“It is our hope that such
mistake will be avoided in future.
“In this regard Your Excellency, we strongly request for the lift of
suspension for them to resume their normal duties.
“We understand they have been placed on suspension since June 2021 without salary and this has caused untold hardship on their families and dependants.
“While thanking Your Excellency for your understanding, we wish to use
this opportunity to congratulate you on your laudable achievements in the last
26 months in office as the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
“Especially in the areas of agriculture, education, health and infrastructure. This monumental land marks shall always be remembered in the sands of time.
