ASUSS Reacts To Approval For Its Recognition, Describes Oyetola As Gadfly Of Democracy, Rule Of Law
The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS has described Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as a gadfly of Democracy and Rule of Law.
Commenting on the recent approval for recognition granted the Union, the National President of ASUSS, Comrade Sam Omaji said that development had again confirmed the Osun Governor as a respecter of the rights and freedom of the citizens.
Comrade Omaji explained that the Union had variously pleaded with previous administrations on the need to honour secondary school teachers’ constitutional right to form and belong to a union of their choice, but such effort never yielded until the emergence of the unassuming Governor.
“Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has unequivocally further showcased himself as a democrat, defender of the rule of law, the constitution and the interest of the people by this act of approval. Although, we have observed with admiration the payment of worker’s salary since his emergence and particularly at a time some Governors with supposed bigger pockets are owing 3 to 4 months salary. These confirm that the Osun Governor is a pro-people leader with a conscience”.
The ASUSS president assured the Governor that the recognition of the union for secondary schools teachers would further boost their morale and deepen industrial harmony among stakeholders in the Education sector in Osun State.
He pledged that the Union would conduct its activities within the confines of the Law and support efforts of the government aimed at improving the standard of secondary education in the state.
Mr Omaji also commended Governor Oyetola for his review and reversal of some policies in secondary education in the state, which was a testimony that he listened to the yarning of the people.
