Local Hunters Arrest Robbers In Osun
—As Community Vows To Report DPO To IG

A suspected leader of a gang of robbers who have been terrorising Obokun East Local Council Development Area of Osun State was on Monday arrested by the local hunters in Ilare-Ijesa.
The suspect, identified as Fatai Odedele who specializes in stealing of goats, and other nuactional raiding of the communities was apprehended by the local hunters, while other suspects numbering about six stormed the town with a security vehicle with Registration Plate Number: LAGOS KSF 916 EQ, but only the ring leader was arrested with his operational vehicle , while others are now at large.
It was gathered that the apprehended suspect was handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Esa-Oke for further investigation and prosecution after he had confessed to the allegations.
It was later learnt on Tuesday evening that the suspect had escaped from the police custody in Esa-Oke, but he was later re-apprehended in Esa-Odo on Wednesday morning and handed over to the police, whom inhabitants of the two communities alleged to have compromised with the suspects, which had made the suspect to escape from their custody.
The people of the community who condemned the negligence on the part of the police for the suspected criminal who has been terrorising a Community to escape from the police custody vowed to follow the matter to a logical conclusion.
The Head of the Local Hunters and Vigilante Group in the community, Chief Aderemi Adeniji alleged the DPO of complasency, complicity, negligence of duty, and compromise with the suspects
Adeniji enjoined the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode to call the DPO to order saying they would ensure they follow the matter to a logical conclusion.
“In fact, the people believe that the police have compromised, but we would not allow them to sweep the matter under the carpet.
“We shall monitor it to a logical conclusion.
“We are calling on the State Commissioner of Police to call the DPO whom they alleged for complacency and negligence of duty to order, otherwise, we shall take further steps to the higher authorities”, the Community leader said.
Reacting, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Esa-Oke SP Babalola Kazeem, denied the allegation saying the suspect still in their custody.
He said : “My brother there is nothing like that, come to our station, you will see the suspect. We are still Investigating the matter.
The DPO said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation .
