Offer Yourself To God, Pastor Tobi Advises
By Ayobami Agboola
Christians have been advised to give the sacrifice of self instead of relying on their gifts in tithes, offerings and religious habits to God, as this is the only way to actually please God.
This charge was given by Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, the Global Lead Pastor of The Nation Family, a United Kingdom based Pentecostal ministry also known as SPAC Nation.
Pastor Tobi who was speaking while delivering the word in the service tagged ROYAL PRIESTS said the time has come for believers to think beyond the old and key into the new, adding that Jesus made sure the old wine was finished at the wedding in Cana of Galilee before making the new wine available in what was his first miracle.
According to Pastor Tobi, God had to come into the world to take over the system of the world by sending his son Jesus so that we would no longer be conditioned by the law in our quest for Him. He pointed out that the old church is fading gradually to make way for the new church that is coming with a new flame which carries with it genuine revival and real kingdom wealth.
“Keying into this new revival will help you discover purpose and leave the Church-going routine behind in favour of seeking God and giving your all to Him so as to be involved in the new move of God.”
The 40-year old who has been pastoring since his twenties pointed out that many believers have veered off the path of genuinely seeking God, instead focusing on their material sacrifices such as offerings, tithes and ‘good deeds’ to seek for the remedy of sin: to be rich, to be healed, to be married, to have children.
“In doing this, they have forgotten that they need to offer themselves, not just their substance, to God so as to please Him. When you surrender it all to God, it will no longer be about having the good things of life. In fact, you will be the good thing on earth.”
Citing Hebrews 10, Pastor Tobi explained that the coming of Christ brought about a shift which invalidated blood offerings and made them irrelevant hence causing the new flame to be ignited. According to him, the difference between the old flame and the new flame is that one requires the gift of life while the other requires the gift of tithe (and other sacrifices).
Prior to the ministration of the word, the BOT Chair of the ministry, Reverend Dapo Adegboyega gave a report of his apostolic visit to Nigeria.
He said it was an eye-opening one which showed that many of the youths were determined to avoid the mistakes of the previous generations.
“We cannot leave our brothers and sisters in Africa to wallow in lack of direction. My visit to Nigeria revealed the joy that many of them exuded to hear the word of God in a different way and that has helped us to introduce The Nation Family and what we stand for to them.”
According to Reverend Dapo, the youths he had different contacts and meetings with numbered close to a thousand and were excited to key into The Nation Family’s vision.
“Many of these folks are academically brilliant and they welcomed The Nation Family with open arms. They showed the willingness to leave their First Class degrees and Distinctions behind to learn even more and identify with what The Lord is doing through The Nation Family.”
Reverend Dapo said many of these young ones are already graduates in many fields and are in different Nigerian cities from where they now join up with The Nation Family services.
“Many of them now join our live broadcasts from different cities in Nigeria: Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and the like. They want to be rescued from religion and experience God, and they are ready to have this experience through The Nation Family so we cannot afford to fail God.”
