Modakeke Islamic Grammar School,MIGSOSA To Hold Founders Day, Global Alumni Reunion Sept 25
All arrangements have been concluded by the Modakeke Islamic Grammar School Old Students’ Association to hold founders’ day and global alumni reunion of the school on Saturday 25, September 2021.
The event which is a precursor to the golden jubilee anniversary scheduled for next year when the school would clock fifth years shall play host to different personalities from all works of life across the globe who are graduates of the school.
This was contained in a press statement released by the chairman of the planning committee for the event, Dr. Abdulwasiu Akinbode, a copy that was made available to CityMirrorNews on Monday.
The statement reads, “As part of efforts for the golden jubilee anniversary of our school, we have scheduled a founders’ day and alumni reunion for this Saturday 25th September 2021”
“This event would be the largest gathering of Old Students Association from all works of life so far and we have scheduled many activities for the day”
“We are at a time there is need for collaborative efforts between nonstate stakeholders such as Alumni association and government at all levels to assist in giving public education the deserving attention to achieving qualitative result and to breach the gap between privately owned schools to the public ones”
“Over the years, as an association, we have been giving different categories of interventions to the school and we are confident more would be delivered going forward while serious efforts would be made to provide career guidance for the students of the school, the statement concluded”
In his contribution, the Chairman Publicity subcommittee of the programme, Olasupo Daudu, enjoined all alumni of the school to keep faith with the date of event as he asserted that it would be an interesting one and a rare opportunity to connect and reconnect with old acquaintances.
Going through the memory lane, the current principal of the school who also doubled as one of the alumnus of the school, Alhaji Wole Animasahun said “Modakeke Islamic Grammar school founding was conceived in 1972 by the Modakeke Muslim Community as part of an effort to encourage enrolment of Muslim children into western schools and also integrate Islamic education with it for the proper moral upbringing and spiritual fulfillment.
“The chairman of that founding Committee was Alhaji Adefajo and had Alhaji Yaya Adebiyi as the Secretary”
“The approval for the establishment was given by the then Oyo state Government in 1974. The school took off at Modakeke central mosque and they later moved to the present site with A block of 4 classrooms and a detached office”, he concluded.
Today, Modakeke Islamic Grammar School is one of the prominent secondary schools in Modakeke and beyond.
