The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has said that his efforts are tailored towards making the ancient town of Iwo as great as Lagos by building a buoyant economy for the town.
The monarch said this in his address during the 2021 Iwo Day celebration held at Oluwo Stadium.
Oba Akanbi who said the love he has for the people of his town is unquantifiable said he acts like a boy sometimes to make the town has more advantage and attract development in the community.
According to the monarch, he said his efforts are tailored towards building a distinctive, buoyant economy and vibrant metropolis, urging the stakeholders in the town to complement his endeavours at restoring the glory of Iwo.
He assured citizens of his commitment to meet up again and be better through a vigorous and rigorous exercise of traditional influence.
He called on well-meaning sons and daughters of Iwoland to be more dedicated to Iwo through harmonization of interest at securing a better future for the land.
Oba Akanbi said, “My dream is to see the ancient town greater than the Centre of Excellence, Lagos. I urge stakeholders to complement my endeavours at restoring the glory of Iwo.
“In 1931, according to the census conducted, Iwo was the 5th largest city after Lagos, Ibadan, Kano and Ogbomoso. But certain factors that cannot be discussed here caused a monumental drawback. I’ve come to reclaim and restore the glory of the town to compete favourably with Lagos, Kano and other great cities.
“I’m trying my utmost through traditional influence. Occasionally, I act like a boy, I don’t mind presenting myself a party man if such will be to the advantage of town.
“While I acknowledge the efforts of the Patriots, I want to charge them to continuously toe the path of honor. I look up to the constitution of a powerful team that we designed 2030, 2040, and 2050 visions for Iwoland. We should have a plan of action at the interval to economically, politically, socially and educationally shaped the fortune of our great land, Iwo, the home of a parrot”.
“My enthronement heralded unprecedented recognition for Iwo. Development is in stages. We have successfully established our position and the next is the facilitation of infrastructures. We are on that now. Though it is a sacrifice but I’m enjoying it. The results are motivations to do. I enjoin reasonable individual to cooperate in face-lifting our dear heritage”
Speaking about the annual ceremony, Oluwo said that what makes him excited is not just about the occasion but it’s about Iwo is progressing, it’s peaceful, people are happy because they like the style of their leader, I thank God Almighty today for what he’s doing Iwo is progressing and presidential development, he added.
“I have given my people free hands to move in progress, anybody that wants to do any evil to them I will hold the person while holding the person I will tell my children to keep moving, my prayers for Iwo that any evil that will befall them shall come to me and pass through me first, I’m pillar for them and must protect them.
“Very soon Reality TV is going to become federal, just like WMPS was taken over by the federal government, we just came from the Senate on Friday, we have told them to take over Reality-TV
However, Oba Abdulrosheed affirmed that Iwo town is going to choose a candidate that is ready to serve the people right in the coming elections by looking into his or her previous impact on the people before they choose a leader.
“Iwo community is going for the best in the coming election, we will check their files and look into what they have done, what he has sacrificed for the people, and pick out the best among them.
