Gunmen Invade Osun Community, Shoot Three Persons
Hoodlums take trouble to Osun village, shoot three in Obokun
At least three people have been shot late on Sunday by some suspected gunmen, who invaded Koka Village in the Obokun Local Government area of Osun State.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, told newsmen that she was already in bed around 11:30 pm when about eight gunmen invaded the village.
She said the attackers divided themselves into two groups, with the first set of four men entering houses and bringing out the residents, while another set mounted surveillance on the road leading into the village.
Another resident, simply identified as Tayo Ola, also said a building that the gunmen entered first when they arrived the village was damaged with a bullet, stressing that three villagers were shot but none was taken away by the attackers.
The source added that the arrival of hunters put them under pressure and made them fled into the bush.
When contacted, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
Opalola said, “Some herdsmen on Sunday attacked Koka Village in Obokun Local Government Area, and attempted to abduct some villagers.
“Villagers and hunters mobilised and engaged the attackers in a firefight and liberated themselves. Three villagers sustained bullet wounds. Those injured were responding to treatment at Asubiaro State Hospital, Osogbo.
“Police have drafted operatives to join locals on search operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”
