Plateau: Despite Curfew, Suspected Herdsmen Kill Five In Bassa, Jos North
Despite the dusk to dawn curfew imposed in Bassa LGA of Plateau State, gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen late Tuesday night launched an attack on Chando-Zirechi (Tafi-Gana) of Miango District of the LGA, killing five people in the incident.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association, Comrade Danjuma Dickson Auta, said, “As the Irigwe nation continue to receive attacks from left right and centre, over the unfortunate incident at Rukuba road, where innocent commuters which the Irigwe nation knows nothing about and we have continue to distance ourselves from the ungodly act as peace loving citizens.
“Yet, last night, 17th August 2021, one of our villages, Chando-Zrrechi (Tafi-Gana), was attacked last night by Fulani Herdsmen.
“Five people confirmed dead so far at Tafi Gana village of Miango District Irigwe Chiefdom”.
He added that, “this is apart from another son of Irigwe killed at Dong village of Jos North LGA, in the evening of 16th August 2021, despite the 24 hour curfew imposed on the council.”
Auta called on security operatives and the government to put a stop to the rampant attacks meted on their communities.
“If nothing is done to avert this ugly trend, Irigwe people will be wiped out. We see this as ethnic cleansing”, he decried.
