LG Chairmanship: Osun APC Ward 13 Members Drum Support For Oris, State Reasons

Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in ward 13, Osogbo local government area of Osun State have declared their support for the Chairmanship ambition of Oriola Oladipupo Kabir, an active member of the party in the area saying it was the turn of their ward to produce the candidate for the next council election.

The APC members made the declaration on Sunday, during their weekly party meeting, held in front of the house of Mr Taye Ajibola, the party leader’s house located at Akepe Street Osogbo.

The APC party loyalists said the members of the ruling party in the ward have done very well in the last general and gubernatorial elections in the town, hence the need for party leadership to consider their plight as no political office had been occupied by the residents of the ward since the creation of the state.

The Chairmanship aspirant, Oriola Oladipupo Kabir had earlier stormed the ward’s meeting with hundreds of his supporters to seek the support of the members and the leadership of the party.

Addressing the elated party members, Kabir popularly known as Oris said the purpose of his visitation was to seek support of his people and the need for them to endorse his candidature.

Speaking on his political ambition, the chairmanship hopeful said it was the turn of the ward to produce the next chairman, saying since the creation of the state, ward 13 which he said has largest voting capacity, had never produced any political office holder since its creation.

He noted that apart from ward 13 where he hails from, none of the other wards had never produced either federal lawmaker or state lawmakers, chairmen or vice chairmen .

“It’s our turn, and we need to ensure that we do everything within our reach to secure this chairmanship position. Ward 7 had produced Senator, Chairmen, the same thing with ward 8, ward 9, ward 10, ward 11, ward 14 and ward 12 and Ward 15.

Going down the memory lane, Oris who hails from Balogun compound said it’s only their ward, ward 13 that had never be given opportunity to produce any candidate for any political office since its creation.

“We must rise from our slumber and ensure justice is done in this regard. We have done a lot of consultations and people have agreed to talk to the leadership of the party on the need to look at our agitation and put us in consideration.

Describing Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a listening governor, Oris expressed optimism that the Governor would definitely look into their demands.

The Osogbo born politician promised adequate representation said if emerged victorious he give priority to youth employment, shelter through mechanised agriculture.

A leader of the APC in the ward, the Sare Pawo of Osogbo land, Mr Taye Ajibola encouraged people to pray for the emergence of Oris, just as he advised the Chairmanship hopeful to be conscious of the the promises he would be making while canvassing for his ambition.

Ajibola however, enjoined members of the party to do away with anything capable of causing crisis among the members of the party, urging them to shun Politics of bitterness and hatred.

The leader, advised Oladipupo to always give a listening ears to the people, pick their calls and reply their messages after assuming office.

“Don’t Make a covenant with anyone”, he added.

“My reason for supporting Oladipupo Oris was based on the need to have the best person for the job without giving it emotion or sentiment. We saw in him what many people didn’t see and we are not in doubt that he would reposition the local government for better.

“I will urge the incoming Chairman to take the local government serious and give them the development through their allocation for the local government, advice him to always pick calls from the people and attend to them after assuming office as Chairman.

Echoing a similar view, the APC youth leader, Ademola Jamiu encouraged the ward to support Oris.

The Deputy Women leader in the ward, Mrs Omotoyosi Olupona called on the people to support Oris’ candidature.

“Oladipupo appears like a leader who is coming in to build and not to destroy and whoever that has that in mind will not abandon developmental projects for the local government,” another faithful party member in the ward, Rasaq Adekunle said.
