Lagos On The Fore As Nigeria Records 1,584 New COVID-19 Cases
Ten states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 1,584 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to figures released on Saturday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The agency also reported one additional COVID-19 related death.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Saturday.
Lagos recorded the highest number of new infections with 906 cases followed by FCT – 258, Rivers – 217, Edo – 85, Oyo – 50, Ogun – 16, Ondo – 14, Bayelsa – 12, Osun – 10, Bauchi – 9 and Kano – 7.
The health agency said the 1,584 new cases of COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 222,655.
However, 211,373 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With one COVID-19 related death reported, the death toll from the virus stands at 2,984, NCDC said.
It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
