Kelebe-Omu Land Dispute: Landowners/Olugun Family Call On Authorities To Wade In As Nigerian Army Flouts Court Orders
Disturbed by the non compliance of the Ministry of Defence and its allies, concerning the directives of the court that prevented all parties to the case of the disputed land in Kelebe-Omu in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun from doing anything on the land, the Olugun Family have expressed concerns with a call to authorities concerned to, as a matter of urgency, wade into the matter.
Olugun family which comprises of 11 houses had vented their anger over what it described as “trespass and disobedience of court order” by the Nigeria Army and Ministry of Defence.
Recall that an Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital had on March 11, 2021 warned the Nigeria Army , Ministry of Defence and other parties to the case, not to take any action on the land on Kelebe-Omu, pending when it would give its ruling.
The land owners had dragged Nigeria Army, Ministry of Defence and others before the court , to seek justice over the acquired land.
Apart from Ologun family other land owners in Kelebe-Omu had recently raised alarm , condemning the
failure of the Ministry of Defence and its allies to comply with directives of the court which prevented all parties to the case before it, from taking any action on the subject matter before the court until it gives its final judgement.
The Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association’s Vice Chairman, Olugun family, Alhaji Ibraheem Olagboye said they wonder why the Ministry of Defence and Nigeria Army still deemed it fit to trespass on the land after the court order.
Alhaji Olagboye explained that the Nigerian Army acquired the land in question and built military flats and later leased part of it to farmers and developers.
He noted that despite the court order preventing the defendants from entering or doing anything on the land , the family had it in good authority that the defendants have allegedly started issuing permits to members of public to use the land as farming camps, construction of fish ponds , digging and haulage , building of houses among others.
He called on the authorities concerned to wade in as a matter of urgency so as to ensure compliance of the court order.
