Politician’s Wife, Family Raise Alarm Over Kidnap Of Husband, Petition IGP
Suspected gunmen have kidnapped Mr Bamidele Sanmi Emmanuel, a Senior Special Assistant to Osun state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, and his driver along Ibadan-Gbongan express way.
The incident was confirmed a first information Report (FIR) which was obtained by our Correspondent. .
The ugly incident according to the investigation report signed by ACP Emmanuel Deebom, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku-Ibadan, occurred on 1st of August, 2021.
Our Correspondent gathered that one Mrs. Abiodun Abisayo Bamidele had petitioned the police to intimate them on the unfortunate incident which it was gathered threw the family and relatives of Emmanuel into mourning.
The report affirmed to the fact that Emmanuel had suffered similar experience on 04/03/2021 when some suspected assailants were said to have been trailing his life and; his wife Bamidele Abisayo Abiodun, his sons Bamidele Judah Oluwadarasimi (17 years), Bamidele Caleb Oluwatobiloba (14 years) a Bamidele Obajuwon Adesire (10 years).
According to the police, Mr. Bamidele Sanmi claimed an additional incident of attack at his Osogbo home where his security guard was slain and the intruders fled without taking anything following which he relocated his family from Osogbo to Ibadan for security reasons as a result of a number of security breaches surrounding him.
Upon receiving the information by the complaint the police assembled a search team to look into it and make sure the victim was saved alive and unharmed. A voluntary statement from the complaint was also recorded.
“This deal with a case of kidnapping that was reported on 01/08/2021 by one Abisayo Bamidele ‘f’ of NO. 15, road 2, Ifelodun Estate, Akobo Oju-Irin, Ibadan.
“The brief fact of the case is that, one ABIODUN ABISAYO BAMIDELE ‘f’ report 01/08/2021 that on same date at about 1600 hours, some suspected assailants waylaid her husband Bamidele Sanmi Emmanuel ‘m’ while coming from Osogbo to Ibadan in his Toyota Corolla with registration number LND14EL and he was kidnapped and taken away to an unknown destination with his driver. Meanwhile, the said husband had previously reported on 04/03/2021 some suspected assailants were trailing his life and; his wife Bamidele Abisayo Abiodun, his three sons namely Bamidele Judah Oluwadarasimi (17 years), Bamidele Caleb Oluwatobiloba (14 years) a Bamidele Obajuwon Adesire (10 years) old.
“On the receipt of the case, voluntary statement was recorded from the complaint and search team was constituted to investigate and ensure that the victim is rescued life and unhurt. In the course of the investigation the following fact emerged as finding:
That the complainant is a wife to the victim Mr. Bamidele Sanmi Emmanuel ‘m”.
ii. That the victim is a business man and a politician; a Senior Special Assistance to the Former Governor of Osun State.
iii. That on 01/08/2021 at about 16 00 hours, some yet to be identified armed men waylaid Mr. Bamidele Sanmi Emmanuel along Ibadan Gbongan road, they kidnapped him and took him and his driver to an unknown destination.
iv. That the rescue team is working tirelessly to ensure a safe release of the victim.
v. That prior to the abduction of the victim he had made series of complaints of threat to his life to the police in Osun and Oyo state Police Command.
vi. That the reported threat to his life began in the year 2016 after a billboard erected for the
candidate of his political party was maliciously damaged by people in opposing political party.
vii. That Mr. Bamidele Sanmi thereafter reported through a petition dated 04/03/2021 that some suspected assailants were trailing him and members of his family; his wife and three children. That thereafter Mr. Bamidele Sanmi Emmanuel escaped another attack at Osogbo while he was traveling from Osogbo to Ibadan and his Nissan Xtera Sport Utility vehicle with registration number LND433AH was vandalized.
ix. That subsequent to the attack at Osogbo, one of the culprits was arrested by the police, tried in court of law and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.
That owing to series of security breach around Mr. Bamidele Sanmi he relocated his family from Osogbo to Ibadan for security purposes. That before relocating to Ibadan Mr. Bamidele Sanmi reported another incidence of attack at his Osogbo residence where his security guard was killed and the invaders left without stealing anything. In the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the repeated series of security breach around Mr. Bamidele Sanmi is connected with his political interest and business. He is advised to be security conscious while investigation continue.

Recall that a 35-year-old man, Adisa Aleshinloye, had on November 11 , 2013 nabbed for vandalizing a car belonging to the same Mr Emmanuel where it was parked in front of APC Party Secretariat along Gbongan Road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Aleshinloye allegedly committed the crime last Wednesday around 1:35pm.
