It was learnt that the suspect, after killing his daughter, reported himself to the head of the community.

A neighbour, who preferred anonymity, alleged that the man had earlier sent one of his sons packing over his alleged rude behaviour. He said that a neighbour gave the boy a sanctuary after he was sent out of his home.

A resident of the area, Mr. Ojo Eko, in an interview with The Point, said the girl was murdered between 3am and 4 am on the said day as residents were sleeping.

Eko said, “Two days before the incident happened, Adesina sent Amina’s younger brother away from home, complaining about his behaviour. The boy has been staying with me since then.

“On the day the incident occurred, I rallied some people in our area to meet with the chairman of the community to plead with the man on behalf of the boy. That was because I felt that the boy could not continue to stay with me. I wanted us to make peace by appealing to his father to take him back.

“The chairman invited the father to plead with him. On his arrival at the meeting, the enraged father alleged that he (the boy) had killed his own sister.

“Everyone that was present there was shocked at the news. We followed him to the scene and met the lifeless body of the girl. The father had bathed and dressed her up but there were traces of faeces on the floor which showed that the girl might have been strangled to death. But we could not ascertain what led to that.

“He told us that he would go to the police station to report the matter by himself but we held him down so that he would not run away. We reported the case at Dada Estate Police Station, from where policemen came to arrest him.”

When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying investigation was in progress.

Opalola added that the body of the girl had been deposited at the morgue of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and that Adesina would be arraigned upon the completion of investigation.
