Osun Chief Whip, Olatunji Distributes Free JAMB Forms To Constituents
Over 60 outstanding secondary school leavers in Ife North Constituency have benefited from the free JAMB registration exercise sponsored by the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly,Hon Tunde Olatunji.
The students were drawn from 341 student that participated in the mock examination conducted to select the best candidates in the area.
Speaking at the finals of the contest, the donour, Hon Olatunji explained that the exercise which was purely on merit was conceived to stimulate a conscious process of encouraging the best brains in the constituency for higher education. “It is in futherance of my irrevocable commitment towards education in our constituency and the larger society. I place huge premium on education because i know it is the only way to transform our society and leave a lasting legacy.”
He said in about a decade, such a process would have yielded the emergence of solution providers across various sectors of the economy, adding that such individual can in turn help solve problems globally and repatriate the proceeds back to the local community for its development.
The Chief Whip who represents the area in the House of Assembly also promised to absorb some of them under the ‘Tunde Olatunji scholarship scheme, where brilliant and indigent students are supported within his little capacity to achieve their dreams of higher education.
In their comments, some leaders of the constituency including the President of League of Imams in Ife North,the Christian Association of Nigeria president, The Presidents of Yakooyo and Edunabon progressive Unions, Prince Omolade Binuyo and Elder Rufus Awotidoye described Hon Olatunji as a quintessential representative who has deep conviction about human capital development and has committed cash and kind to achieving same in Ife North Local Government since he got elected.
One of the beneficiaries, Master Abdul. Lateef appreciated the gesture which he said came to him without any connection from anybody, while Miss Olaitan Oluwatosin said she could not have been able to raise money for the UMTE registration but for the magnanimity of the legislator.
