Osun APC Crisis : Crack Widens As Group Petitions Police Over Oyetola’s Aide Comments

The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, on Friday, took another twist dimension as a group within the party allegedly petitioned Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode over the recent comment of Commissioner for Works and Transports, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, during a meeting held at the Ilesa West Local Government.

It was gathered that The Osun Progressive Caucus, a group within the ruling APC allegedly reported Omowaiye before the police authority for declaring the group personal non grata at a meeting.

Omowaiye was alleged to have made the comment at the party meeting in Ilesa West Local Government.

The declaration of the group as personal non grata did not going down well with members of the group, hence petitioned the commissioner of police, Olokode.

Since the formation of TOP, there had been series of allegations and counter allegations, the situation which has worsened the situation within the party.

The party elders Caucus, ” Igbimo Agbaas” had during their last meeting suspended TOP Chairman, Adelowo Adebiyi, for forming what they described as “Splinter group”.

The group, called “Igbimo Agba” accused Adebiyi of causing disunity within the party.

However, Adebiyi debunked the allegations saying TOP was not to divide the party but to sensitise members of the party, TOP is a caucus or group within the party that is recognized by the Constitution in the Article 9 and 12 of APC constitution.

The petition was said to have been written by a top member of the TOP, a former commissioner , who served under the Rauf Aregbesola administration.

Aregbesola was said to have been appointed as the Chairman, board of trustees in his Lagos residence when former members of his cabinet visited him during the sallah festivities.

Omowaiye was sighted at the State Police Headquarters Osogbo about 1pm on Friday in respect of the petition.

The police source also confirmed that the Chairman of TOP, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi was at the police headquarters in respect of the petition on Thursday.

When contacted, Omowaiye confirmed the police invitation but declined further comment on the matter describing it as a mere distraction which will not hold water.

He said ” It is true that I was invited by the police on a petty issue but I will not dignify anyone with needless public response. The leadership of our party at all levels have banned TOP. it is a distraction and we are not ready for that, the focus of Oyetola is good governance and responsible delivery of democratic dividends to move Osun forward.

” I considered the petition as a cover up for their threats against few of us in government, they have been threatening the lives of our people including my humble self, but they just want to use the petition as a coverup for their planned violent attack on my life, but I am not distracted in anyway.”
