Four Osun LGA Staff Resign Appointment Over Non-payment Salary Arrears

Four staff of Ede North Local Government Area, Osun State have tendered resignation letter over non-payment of 25 months arrears.

According to the letter of resignation dated December 1st, 2020 addressed to the chairman of the Local Government, identified the name of the staff as Tunde Adeoye, Aminu Ghasali, Ibrahim Tiamiyu and Micheal Dipo Laoye.

The appeal to the Chairman to pay their arrears which totalled N1,264,000 noting that despite the unpaid salaries for 25 months, they served faithfully.

According to the letter, “we were engaged on temporary appointment on 1″ April 2011, 1” January 2021, 14 October 2015 and 24 July 2015 respectively. We have been performing our duties diligently by providing adequate security for the properties of the Ede North Local Government, but to our dismay, the Authority of the Local Government has not been paying our stipend of N10,000 regularly. The Authority is owing to us twenty-five months stipends each with our overtime entitlement which accrued during the strike action embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress between 26 May 2015 and 28 July 2015. Totalled sixty-six days.

“Our accrued stipend and allowances for January 2015 to January 2017 totalled N1,264,000. We are now informing you that due to the unbearable condition we find ourselves because of the inability of the Local Government to pay our salary wish to inform the authority that we wish to tender our resignation with immediate effect since we are daily paid workers.”

They implored the current chairman of the local government to use his office in paying their entitlement.

When the Chairman of the local government, Mr Daud Akinloye was contacted on the issue, he was not responding to his calls as at the time of filing this report.
