Osogbo LG Chair Aspirant, Oris Distributes Facemasks To Residents, Seeks Political Support

An Osogbo Local Government Area Chairmanship aspirant, Oriola Oladipupo Kabir, on Sunday distributed large quantity of facemasks to residents of his ward to curtail the spread of second wave of Coronavirus.

The Chairmanship hopeful, who is popularly called Oris, distributed the facemasks while holding a meeting with the household women (Iyale Ile) of ward 13, Akepe Street, Osogbo Local Government, Osogbo.

CityMirrorNews reports that Oris had earlier met with the household women and some elderly fathers of the ward seeking their support for his chairmanship ambition.

Speaking, Oris said the move was geared towards complementing the efforts of the government of Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola in curbing the spread of deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

He therefore advised Nigerians, especially his constituents to maintain social distancing, regular hand washing and wearing of face masks to contain the spread of the deadly virus as recommended by health professionals and government.

Oris urged the people of Osun state to always observe government directives on COVID-19 in ensuring that the state did not record more cases of coronavirus.

Speaking on his political ambition, the chairmanship hopeful said it was the turn of the ward to produce the next chairman, saying since the creation of the state, ward 13 which he said has largest voting capacity, had never produced any political office holder since its creation.

He noted that apart from ward 13 where he hails from, none of the other wards had never produced either federal lawmaker or state lawmakers, chairmen or vice chairmen .

“It’s our turn, and we need to ensure that we do everything within our reach to secure this chairmanship position. Ward 7 had produced Senator, Chairmen, the same thing with ward 8, ward 9, ward 10, ward 11, ward 14 and ward 12 and Ward 15, it’s only our ward, ward 13 that had never be given opportunity to produce any candidate for any political office since its creation.

“We must rise from our slumber and ensure justice is done in this regard. We have done a lot of consultations and people have agreed to talk to the leadership of the party on the need to look at our agitation and put us in consideration.

Describing Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a listening governor, Oris expressed optimism that the Governor would definitely look into their demands.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, an aged woman simply identified as Kudirat Akindele commended the the Chairmanship aspirant for demonstrating true love for his people, saying the facemasks would help in preventing themselves against COVID-19.

She said stakeholders within the ward should meet up with the party leadership to channel their agitation saying it was the time for them to stake in the governance.
