SWAGA Has Come To Stay, Says Gov Sanwoolu
A socio-political group, Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) has been officially launched in Lagos State.
The event which took place in Lagos on Thursday had in attendance the Governor of the state , Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, members of his cabinet, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Senator Ogunlewe, APC State Chairman, Balogun,Traditional rulers, market men and women among others.
Eminent politicians, who are urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to run for the President in 2023, on Thursday launched the group as a platform to preach the gospel of the former Governor of Lagos across the nooks and crannies of the country.
Although Tinubu, the former Lagos State governor, has not declared his intention, many groups are urging him to run.
Former Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, who led the Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA’23), said the launching of SWAGA, a voluntary group for the south west region was to ensure they work in unity to persuade the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to throw in his hat for 2023 presidency.
Senator Adeyeye and other members of the group including, Sen Soji Akanbi,Sen Tony Adeniyi, Sen Gbenga Obadara, Hon Bosun Oladele, Hon Rotimi Makinde, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, Monsuru Alao, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, Hon Oyetunde Ojo, Hon Mrs Ayo Omidiran, Hon Akim Munir, Deji Jakande, Mrs kafilat Ogbara ,Hon Bimbo Daramola, Lanre Odubote, among others had earlier paid courtesy call on the governor at government House marina.
Speaking, Governor Sanwoolu appreciated the team for the job Weldon.
The Governor was full of enthusiasm and happy for the self sponsored group who according to him took the gauntlet with serious determination to succeed with vision, passion and action.
Governor Sanwoolu said: “I want to tell you Swaga has come to stay and we shall do everything humanly possible to make it a successful movement to actualize the general wishes of our region.”
CityMirrorNews recalls that as part of its efforts to accomplish its aim, members of SWAGA had recently met with some traditional rulers , urging them to prevail on their son, Tinubu, to contest the 2023 presidential election.
The group advised the Southwest monarchs to prevail on Asiwaju Tinubu to contest because he would render invaluable services to the country.
They described Tinubu as a competent person, a crowd puller and a believer in the deployment of human potentials for development.
