By Jide Afolabi, Lagos
Youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention have been urged to build attitudes that leads to financial independence.
The youths were admonished at the ongoing 49th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, holding at the Foursquare Gospel Church Campground in Ajebo, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
Speaking on the theme, Attitudinal Development that leads to Financial Independence, Rev Dr Adelokoji Ijaodola said that financial independence is a function of one’s attitude.
He identified ten attitudes that can lead to attain financial independence in life to include, prudence; accountability; thinking; assessment; and decision. Others he identified were, foresight; kingdom investment; integrity; association/relationship; faithfulness; and time management.
“About 15 percent of one’s financial success is due to one’s technical knowledge and about 85 percent is due to skill in human engineering, to personality and ability to relate with people. God has placed potentials in you to enable you live a life of domination without stress. Do not add to the wealth of the graveyard. With diligent hand, a prayerful heart, changed attitude, adequate and consistent financial planning, you will dominate in the area of finance and become wealthy.” He concluded.
Earlier, the Guest Speaker, Rev Dr Jim Gotom ministered on the Conference theme “Taking Over Territories” (Joshua 10:16-28).
He said, “When Jesus is in your race it doesn’t matter who has gone ahead of you”. He admonished youths to give their lives to Christ so that the Lord shall take over the territories for them.
Other highlights of the second day of the Conference was a paper presentation on Rhesus Factor delivered by Dr Popoola, Medical Director, Baptist Medical Centre, Lagos; Word Ministration by the Guest Speaker; Bible Quiz and Sport among others.
