Hijrah Year 1443 Celebration: Osun Muslim Community Urges FG To Redouble Effort In Tackling Insecurity

The Osun Muslim Community (OSMC) has decried the spate of insecurity in various part of the country, adding that governemnt must intensify efforts in addressing the scourge.
The President of OSMC, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi gave the advise while speaking at a press conference organized to herald the activities marking the new Hijrah year 1443 celebration in the state.
Olawuyi who spoke through OSMC First Vice Chairman, Alhaji Sodiq Bola Bello commended President Muhammadu Buhari for reducing insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country, noted that more efforts was needed in addressing security challenges in other parts of the country.
Olawuyi said: “We would want to reiterate that the Federal Government should not relent its efforts in fighting Terrorism, Kidnappings, and fighting bandits.”
“The Community commends the effort of the Federal Government’s commitment with the purchase of the state of the art Military Equipment to prosecute the insurgencies, it is our prayer that Allah grants our soldiers success.”
“The Security is every body’s business, Nigerians should be security conscious and assist the Government in exposing miscreants and mischievous elements in the society.”
“The agitation to breakup Nigeria is uncalled for. The Federating units of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should see strength in unity and consolidation of Nigeria forefathers’ achievements.”
“All the segments of our Government are called upon to have roundtable discussion with all the agreived units and a way forward towards a formidable and united Nigeria”.
Speaking on this year Hijrah celebration, Olawuyi expressed gratitude to the Osun State Government for sustaining the partnership with OSMC on Hijrah celebration and upholding Hijrah holiday in the State.
The President of OSMC who highlighted events line up for the new Hijrah year celebration said though, the celebration was very significant and worth it but it would be celebrated withy the usual funfare because of COVID-19 pandemic.
He said: “This year’s programme like yuletide of the past would not be celebrated with funfare due to COVID’19 pandemic.
He further explained that a Qur’an competition will hold on Monday, August 2 at OSMC Hall followed by a Colloquium on Wednesday with the theme: “Curbing Insecurity in Nigeria: The Roles of Religious Bodies.”
He said a Jumu’at Service at the Central Mosque, Oja-Oba, Osogbo will hold on Friday while a Youth Forum will hold on Saturday where young Muslims would learn various vocational skills including how to produce liquid soap and body cream.
He added that a Stakeholders’ Meeting will hold on Monday, August 9, 2021 which is Muharam 1, 1443AH and that Hijrah Lecture with the theme: “Insecurity Level in Nigeria; Tilting Towards Anarchy: Islamic Solutions” to be delivered by Professor Hamid Sanni, Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo.
