NCS Stakeholder’s Seeks Controller General, Jafaru Ahmed, Retired
By Our Reporter
Some stakeholders of the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCS, have expressed reservations over the continued stay of the Controller General, Jafaru Ahmed as the helmsman of the service.
Inside sources from the service told newsmen that Ahmed’s tenure as CG has elapsed with effect from the 21st of July, but he has decided to stay put in the role. “He should be retired forthwith”, a CityMirrorNews source added.
According to information, Ahmed’s tenure as Controller General of the NCS expired in 2019 while he was given a year extension by the Federal Government.
The stakeholders in their account maintained that his stay in office till the moment is demoralizing to staff negating the hallmark tradition of progression in the service.
They called on the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and President Muhammadu Buhari to wade in the issue by ordering Jafaru Ahmed’s retirement with immediate effect to help the men and officers of the Nigeria correctional service.
“We are tired of his stay. He is supposed to use 4 years, he has used 5 years now. He should leave when the ovation is loudest. Officers and men of the NCS are tired of him. We do not want him to continue in any role in the service.”
“The consequential effect of such back door arrangements to allow for new bloods that can properly key into the vision of this present administration giving the service a new outlook in going forward.
“We want progression. Let Ahmed leave and let a pragmatic, visionary and dogged individual who will move NCS forward and move it to greater heights.”
